Participants should meet in front of the Charleston Hotel at 7:45 a.m. and the bus will leave for the cave at 8 a.m. Please give the above code to the tour guide before getting on the shuttle bus. During the bus ride, which will take about 45 minutes, you will be shown a short movie about the discovery and early expeditions of the cave. Following that, the tour guide will give a talk explaining the various formations you will be viewing throughout the cave.
Although no experience is necessary for descending into the cave, participants should have a basic level of fitness and endurance. The tour will cover almost six kilometers of distance within the cave, and much of this will involve walking up steep inclines. While most parts of the cave are spacious, a few areas are quite narrow or short and require participants to crouch, twist, and bend to get through the passages. If you feel you are unable to meet the physical requirements for the tour, please inform our offices as soon as possible.
It is not necessary to bring your own food, as we will supply water and a small snack. However, some participants prefer to bring a sack lunch for the return bus ride. On the tour day, please wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Sandals will not be allowed. For your comfort, wear several layers of clothing, because there are substantial differences in cave temperatures depending on one's position inside the cave. The shuttle bus will dro p the group off at the Charleston Hotel at approximately 12:30 p.m., depending on traffic.
